This question brings up many thoughts as I scroll through all my memories in various weather conditions. Of course the warmer months are comfortable, and the winter provides wonderlands of soft snow. The spring and Fall provide moderate mediums of their own olfactory satisfying scents as vegetation and wild life both flourish and wilt away respectively.
For me though, there’s one particular time of day in Autumn that brings back a whole lot of nostalgia when the perfect mixture of senses are stimulated. As night begins to fall and the diurnal life hands the world over to the nocturnal; there is a particular aura that takes over. In the northeast, the wind is soft and kind. The contrasting bright night skies portrays black silhouettes of naked trees. Mammalian hibernators are making their last rounds before returning to their humble abode, but this causes the gentle scurrying of crispy dead leaves beneath their feet. This decomposition of vegetation fills the air with earthy aromas, forever locking the moment into my library of memories. The grip forever binds me to the past. For every time this mixture of senses; best brewed up at Dusk in the fall in the North East; I remember how far I’ve come. Why do I remember how far I’ve come in these moments?
The answer is strictly coincidental. All my greatest accomplishments, all the hurdles I have leapt, all the mountains I have climbed, all of my trials and tribulations have coincidentally settled by this specific time. Giving me the pleasure to sit and reflect and grow in such a desirable medium.
Instead of choosing my favorite weather type by what experiences it can provide, I chose a weather type that was there for me after the experiences occurred. I did my best to share with you a truly unique experience that I get to enjoy for the rest of my life, but the limitations of language really takes away from something that just has to happen. I do hope everyone has an opportunity to have a recipe of stimulated senses that bring your mind back to a calming meditative state. It is truly wonderful.
